True stories with a twist!

Valentine’s Day was extra special this year; I was awarded the Kreative Blogger Award by Sylvia Morice. We met through reading and commenting on someone else’s blog. I greatly respect and enjoy Sylvia’s posts, and recommend them to anyone looking for excellent writing that is a treat to read. I always make time to read her posts, no matter how busy the day becomes.

As part of my obligation I must reveal 10 things about myself that you don’t know.

1) Ayn Rand’s books had a huge impact on me, not to say that I now follow her politics.

2) The older I get the more I appreciate Dr.Seuss.

3) The best thing about having children is the freedom it gives to be silly, play and giggle.

4) Front sections of  newspapers are so depressing that I reach for the Food , Styles and Science sections.

5) I love going to the theater, although I must admit that when the experience is over I often wonder if the hassle of getting there was worth it.

6) My current dilemma is whether to wear my glasses fulltime. The downside is that I look geeky. The positive is that it covers the under eye circles.

7) My brother and I still share memories of our parents and our experiences growing up. It makes me wonder what stories my children and grandchildren will remember about me.

8) I was once a good guitarist. But long isolating practices took too much time out of my life every day. So now I write a blog, which takes hours out of my life every day.

9) I can tolerate stories about sad things that happen to people. But not sad stories about  animals.

10) The most depressing news I had recently is that I shrunk 1  1/2 inches.

My next happy obligation is to award fellow bloggers with the Kreativ Blogger Award,

1) Main Street Musings Blog

2) The Mainland

3) If I Were Brave

4) Bela’s Bright Ideas

5) The Kitchens Garden

6) This Little Lark

7) My Little Corner of Rhode Island

8) Linda Vernon Humor

9) How the hell did I end up here

10) magsx2

Good luck to all the wonderful bloggers I’ve had the pleasure of meeting through wordpress.

  1. Number 2, “The older I get the more I appreciate Dr.Seuss” resonates with me 🙂

  2. Ronnie: Congrats on the nomination of your blog for the Kreativ Blogger Award. It’s so wonderful that your very delicious blog was chosen and is appreciated. Your humor is delightful and your writing is fresh and clear. Thanks also for thinking of me and doing me the honor of nominating my blog for the award, as well. That was so kind and I really appreciate it. All the best. ET

  3. Congrats on the award, and thanks for passing it on to me. I wanted to point out that “Main Street Musings” is not the name of my blog, it’s someone else’s (in Canada I think). My blog is called “Main Street Musings Blog” Try it and you will see! – Dr. Seuss.

  4. Congratulations on your award! I think you deserve it. Beautiful work with your blog. Keep it up!

  5. Congratulations on your Kreative Blogger Award! Ha ha! You got lucky with your glasses. Mine just magnify my wrinkles! Enjoyed gettng to know you better with these little known facts about Ronnie. Ayn Rand and guitar player! Who knew? Thank you so much for the nomination!!

  6. Hi,
Congrats on your award, and Thank You very much for nominating me also. 🙂
I agree with you about the newspapers, it is rare to get a good or nice story on the front page.

Congratulations Ronnie. The better I know you and more I learn about you, the more fascinating you are. I would also like to add that you are a wonderful friend and neighbour, have the most delightful sense of humor, look and walk like a professional model. Yay Chicos and the Post Office!

  8. Ronnie, first thanks so much for nominating me! Secondly, wow. Two things. I’m so happy you nominated This Little Lark! She is great and provides a sweet addition to my days, as do you. Second, I too used to play guitar well – classical in fact – but can no longer read music due to putting it down for too long. But I still have a beautiful handmade guitar and sing and play for the pure enjoyment it gives me and not for any other reason. Blessings to you, sister blogger!

  9. Anyone who has spent time in solitude guitar-strumming deserves an award! Congrtualtions on a recognition worth every line your write. Here’s to many more.
I think the “wait don’t tell me..” is a weekend program (Sunday?) SO, if you aren’t in you car then, it’s hard to catch it. Like all NPR programs, it’s smart and entertaining.

  10. Congratulations on your well deserved award. I’ve never outgrown Dr. Seuss. In college we were asked to pick an influential author to write a paper about. I chose Dr. Seuss and the professor was less than thrilled with my selection. Other students had chosen more “mature” authors. I did the research and called my paper “The Use of Dr. Seuss” The professor was pleasantly surprised and I got an A on the paper.

  11. Thanks so much for your nice comments about my blog! I enjoy checking your posts, too–so glad I bumped into you online. And I’ll have to check out the bloggers you’ve nominated for the award…I bet I’ll find more blogs to follow (I may need to dedicate even more hours of my day to online reading…wish I could afford a house-cleaner!)

  12. Congrats on your award. Since you’re a fan of Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged part 1 is available on DVD & Blu Ray. Part 2 is filming & will be released this fall.

    • Thanks for the update on Hollywood doings. I saw the first Ayn Rand based movie, Fountainhead with Cary Grant. Those books are difficult to make into movies since they’re more about ideologies than characters. Thanks for your congratulations.

      Ronnie

  13. You shrunk!? That is so unfair! I actually find myself quoting Dr Seuss in daily life,, i LOVE him. He is my favourite read to kids. One year each one of my five children got a different one for christmas and they were grown ups!! c

  14. Thanks so much! I admit that I don’t like the front sections of the paper either. These days I get most of my news from NPR’s Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me. At least then, I get some laughs along with the sad.

Congratulations on you award. Well deserved. I just love the way you are able to see the humor and joy in life’s everyday moments. Who knew you could play quitar? Though I am not part of your blogger community, I am grateful to you for introducing me to a wealth of insights…thanks for sharing.

    • Thank you for your good wishes and kind words. Seeing humor is wonderful, except when you start giggling as you’re tossed out of the plane for refusing to turn off your iPad (Oh,No: that was Alex Baldwin!).

      Ronnie
