This is another tiny animal found in India and comes to us from Sydney, Australia. After all of you own miniature monkeys, pictured in my story, MY SECRET FRIEND, perhaps you can put in your orders for one of these small and curious pets.

This tiny little tortoise that was born at Taronga Zoo in Sydney is a called a “Star Tortoise” and they are originally from India. They are slightly different than your normal tortoise because of the star like patterns on their backs. This tiny little tortoise is named “Little Guy” and was only 1 week old when the video was taken.
“Little Guy” was hatched on the 24th of January 2012, and it is only the second time in 30 years that zoo keepers have bred this species of turtle. “Little Guy” was the only egg that was fertile so h/she is very special indeed. The sex of the turtle is not yet known.

I once took a night walk “tortuga tour” in Costa Rica. These creatures were each the size of my kitchen table, and we watched them swim to shore and lay eggs on the beach. It was truly amazing!
Hello! I wish you successful week!
How terrifying for them to only have ONE egg and how wonderful that it hatched! c
Maybe that’s where the expression ” he’s a good egg”comes from.
I want the little monkey to ride the tiniest tortoise! That is the cutest thing! May I make a suggestion? How about about building a little tiny ark, Ronnie, to hold all these little creatures as a 2012 end of world precaution. Or maybe Barbie already has a cruise ship you could buy and populate with the all the little cirtters.
I love your idea of the finger monkey riding the tiny star tortoise; too cute!
Hi,
I’m glad you enjoyed the post, he is a little cutie. 😀
Mags, thank you for bringing these wondrous critters to our attention.
Wow, thanks for sharing this info, Ronnie! I once had a pet tortoise…a giant compared to this little fella!
So your heart must have skipped a beat when you saw this little one.
Owning a tortoise as pet sounds cool. Smiles!
Tiny animals don’t take up too much room and don’t eat much!
